I-1098 would bring in $11.6 billion over 5 years

Initiative 1098 would bring in more than twice as much money as proponents have said, according to a new analysis by the governor’s budget office. Backed by a coalition including labor, health-care and education groups, 1098 would generate about $11.6 billion between 2012 and 2016. Sponsors say the measure would help pay for education and health-care programs.

SEIU Members Support Joe Fitzgibbon for State House Legislative District 34

Citing both Joe Fitzgibbon’s commitment to Washington’s working families and his experience as a legislative aide to Rep. Sharon Nelson, SEIU members in locals 925, 1948-PSE, 775NW, and 1199NW announced their support for Joe Fitzgibbon today.

The SEIU members, including child care providers, nurses, healthcare workers, home care workers, public school workers and others, noted Fitzgibbon’s chairing of the Burien Planning Commission as another example of his experience in effectively representing the 34th district. 

"From early learning to higher education, we know that Joe will be a leader on ensuring our children get the high quality education they deserve. Joe has the experience to work effectively in the House and with the Senate to advance issues of importance to working families." –Vicki Knapp, a higher education employee, resident of the 34th district and member of SEIU Local 925.

Citing his commitment and record on working family issues, the nurses, hospital workers, home care workers, public school workers, and childcare workers of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, SEIU Healthcare 775NW, SEIU Local 1948-PSE and SEIU Local 925 have endorsed Chris Reykdal for election to the position of State Representative in the 22nd Legislative District.

"Chris has the experience to lead on making sure that children in Washington get the high quality education they deserve- from early learning through higher education,” said Laura Tanzy, an in-home child care provider in Olympia and a member of SEIU 925. “Chris’s strong commitment to public workers will help ensure that our state continues to provide quality public services even in these challenging economic times.”
