Citing both Joe Fitzgibbon’s commitment to Washington’s working families and his experience as a legislative aide to Rep. Sharon Nelson, SEIU members in locals 925, 1948-PSE, 775NW, and 1199NW announced their support for Joe Fitzgibbon today.
The SEIU members, including child care providers, nurses, healthcare workers, home care workers, public school workers and others, noted Fitzgibbon’s chairing of the Burien Planning Commission as another example of his experience in effectively representing the 34th district.
“We’re proud to stand with Joe Fitzgibbon since we know that he will fight hard to protect critical services for seniors and people with disabilities. With the fiscal crisis facing our state we need someone who can step in from day one and be a leader for a fair tax system and quality care for the most vulnerable” – Carol Frontiero, a certified nurse aide at Vashon Community Care Center and a member of the Executive Committee of SEIU Healthcare 775NW.
“From early learning to higher education, we know that Joe will be a leader on ensuring our children get the high quality education they deserve. Joe has the experience to work effectively in the House and with the Senate to advance issues of importance to working families.” –Vicki Knapp, a higher education employee, resident of the 34th district and member of SEIU Local 925.
“When it comes to healthcare, Joe is right on the mark. As a nurse, I know we need someone in Olympia who understands we can’t solve our budget crisis by cutting healthcare services. Joe is committed to the values of working families like mine, and has the experience we need to fix our budget crisis.” –Brent Morgan, RN, member of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW and resident of the 34th district.
SEIU members from locals 1199NW, 775NW, 1948-PSE and 925 interviewed Joe Fitzgibbon and several other candidates in the race on issues that matter to working families, including jobs, the economy, and new revenues to support healthcare and education.
