925ers Campaigning for Obama in Pennsylvania
Three 925 members, Shelly Woods, John Parks and Alisha Gregory-Davis,
and 925 Organizer Shirely McElroy-Ray have taken their personal
vacation time and traveled to Pennsylvania to win more delegates for
Barack Obama. After some complications with their American Airlines
flights, some time-zone adjustment, and minor detours as they learned
their way around a new city, they are on the campaign trail with
the SEIU/Change To Win team. They are meeting SEIU, Teamster, UniteHERE, Food & Commercial Workers and Carpenters from all over the country who are in Pennsylvania to work on this historic election.
- Change To Win has hit 25,000 doors of union households in Philadelphia over the last two weeks.
Volunteers hit 6,000 doors on Saturday alone.
Local 925 Organizer Shirley McElroy-Ray reports that members are having a fabulous time and working really hard. "They assure me they have the energy to make it through tomorrow night."

John and Shelly reported a rough start in one of their neighborhood with people not wanting to talk to them, but as soon as people realized that they were there to talk about Obama, voters were coming out of their house to talk with them in the street. They are having fabulous conversations with union members about the need for change.
Alisha was paired up with a 775 member and while out discovered that they live blocks away from each other.
Shirley is paired up today with Rahaman Muhammad, an Executive Vice President from Local 617 in New Jersey, who threw a shout out to Kim Cook and 925. "This election provides us with the chance to maybe, just maybe, reshape not just American politics -- but world politics for decades to come," Cook said in a message to the 925 delegation.
Senator Obama had an event in Philadelphia on Monday night, but all the members chose to go home and get some sleep to better prepare for their week. They are committed and focused on the task at hand – getting every possible vote for Obama and bring up his delegate count. "I hope you all find their commitment and dedication as inspiring as I do," said Political Director Tricia Schroeder. "With people like John, Shelly, Alisha and Shirley in the field working hard for Obama, all I can say is; YES WE CAN!"
