Death by a Billion Cuts
Monday, January 18, 2010
9:30 am-4:00 pm
Washington State Capitol, Olympia, WA
What does death by a billion cuts look like?
Governor Gregoire showed us:
• 100,000 will people lose their health insurance.
• 85,000 seniors will no longer be able to afford their medication.
• 50,000 pregnant mothers lose their prenatal support.
• 12,300 college students lose their state financial aid.
• Another $22 million cut from UW academic support.
• K-12 funding cut by $408 Million dollars.
• Class sizes will swell.
• The state will abandon programs to protect clean water.
• Thousands of working families will lose child care.
• And many more cuts!
Our shared values are on the chopping block.
Our jobs, health care and our future are at risk. There’s only one response that makes any sense…a balanced approach that includes RAISING REVENUE.
Fight for the future we believe in!
On Lobby Day, Monday, January 18, 2010 send a clear and powerful message to Governor Gregoire and legislators that the devastating consequences of the all-cuts proposal are unacceptable. Please join hundreds of people across Washington to urge legislators to fight for a fair and sensible budget – one that includes revenue.
