Creating the Future: Our Ideas @Work

Contest Description

Goal: To identify the best ideas SEIU Local 925, UW Chapter members have for improving the quality of public services.

SEIU Local 925 is committed to working with our members, publicly funded employers, and elected officials to improve the quality of public services. We know that SEIU members have an abundance of great ideas for improving public services—ideas that stem from our own first-hand experience of what works well and what does not. When we’re able to run with these ideas, it benefits the public, helps our employers, and improves our jobs.

By submitting your innovative ideas for improving the quality of public services, you can help to chart a new course for building and maintaining healthy communities.

Prizes: First prize: $500; Second prize: $300; Third prize: $200.

All top winners will be recognized on the SEIU Local 925 Website. A group of people may submit an entry and share a cash prize.

The contest is open to all SEIU Local 925 University of Washington Chapter members of who are not employed by SEIU or its locals. For complete contest description, eligibility requirements and Official Rules, see Creating the Future: Our Ideas @Work Contest Rules.


Deadline for entries: Entries must be recieved in the union office by 5:00:00 p.m. on June 30th, 2008.


The Winning Entries WILL:

Advance the Core Purpose of SEIU Local 925: To advance the well-being of our members, their families, and all working people by developing leaders who are a voice for change in the workplace and solidarity in our communities, improve the quality of public services, ideally in ways that are measurable.
Be replicable across geographies and in communities or municipalities of different sizes.
Be sustainable, both financially and over time.

Resonate with the public and with community stakeholders.
Energize SEIU members about implementing the ideas.
Include a strategy for engaging management, public officials, and community stakeholders
