At King County Council’s first public meeting on budget cuts announced Monday, the most organized were a group of 10 public defenders, who were organized under the SEIU Local 925 and argued as vociferously as any of other group that they were being unfairly targeted by the budget. They took to the podium wearing SEIU buttons and were accompanied by a rep from the public service union.

SCRAP Members Pass Contract!
We are happy to tell you that our SEIU Local 925 members who work for SCRAP have passed a Union Contract with overwhelming support! The SCRAP board of directors will now need to ratify the contract at their next meeting on November 21st. Nearly a year after voting to form a union, SCRAP members now have a contract that sets out standards for pay, leave time and health care. SCRAP members have a stronger voice in the workplace and a means for resolving future disputes in a fair manner. This is an exciting time for all of at SCRAP and SEIU Local 925.
