Member Calls Won Support for King County Parks
Together, we protected the many recreational opportunities for the
citizens of King County and secured employment for hundreds of
dedicated parks staff. The passage of a maintenance levy will keep us
from experiencing another fiscal crisis. The focus will be returning
the maintenance level of the parks to pre-2002 staffing levels creating
additional jobs in King County.
Great work to the following SEIU members who came to our Union office to help with phone banks:
- Gary Brown, Green River District
- Nancy Dolan, University of Washington
- Tom Enrico, Marymoor District
- Duane Evans, Resource Area I
- Carol Harris-Davis, University of Washington
- David Kimmett, Resource Area III
- Karl Kostal, Marymoor District
- Jeneil Lagasse, University of Washington
- Christine Lakey, University of Washington
- Sam Whitman, Evergreen District
Parks and UW members asked voters to support the renewal of the Parks levy and expansion of green open spaces throughout the area. The measures cover maintenance and upgrade of 180 parks and 175 trails, including
Marymoor Park
in Redmond, Cougar Mountain, the Woodland Park Zoo, and parts of the Burke-Gilman Trail.
