Service Employees International Union Local 925 supports Mike McGinn for Seattle Mayor

Monday, October 12, 2009

Seattle, WA – Higher education and k-12 classified staff, early learning professionals and other public service workers endorsed Mike McGinn for Seattle Mayor, calling him the candidate with the strongest vision for working families to lead the city.

Members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 925 endorsed McGinn because “his experience and history prove he will be a true leader for working families” says Ramona Brandes, Public Defender and SEIU member. “We believe a McGinn administration will improve the quality of life for those who live and work in Seattle”

"Mike McGinn has a track record on environmental and progressive issues and lead efforts on Seattle Parks levies,” says SEIU Local 925 President Kim Cook. "This is about more than one election. It's about building a community in which people – our members – want to live and work."

SEIU Local 925 will be working to get the word out to the thousands of members who live in Seattle between now and the election.

The 23,000 SEIU Local 925 members work in university, public school and preschool education, child care, state and local government, and non-profit organizations throughout Washington. SEIU Local 925 is proud to be a part of the largest and fastest growing union in the United States, the Service Employees International Union, with over 2 million members nationwide.
