Chapter News and Updates
[4/20/08] Our labor management team has been working with the District on implementing the staffing plan for the new Wade King Elementary School opening September 1, 2008. So far, we are happy with the results and anticipate a smooth transition as we move staff from Lowell El (undergoing a earthquake retrofit) to Wade King for the 2008/2009 contract year.
Our labor management team has also been working on a safety/security system in place to ensure our members continued safety while at work. So far, the focus has been on night custodians. Changes have been made to nightly security checks and the building alarm settings.
Chapter and Workgroup Meetings
All of our members in the Bellingham School District make up the SEIU Bellingham Chapter. The full Chapter meets two to three times per year, usually on a Saturday morning.
While all of our Belingham members make up one Chapter, it has been useful to break up the Chapter into leadership units based on major classification lines (Food Service, Custodial, & Maintenance).
