UW Members Finalize Contract Priorities At Bargaining Conference

Seattle - On April 19th nearly 100 UW union members met with their bargaining team, union leaders, and state legislators to finalize bargaining strategies and contract priorities for their upcoming negotiations with the University of Washington. Beginning April 30th SEIU Local 925 members at the UW chapter will be bargaining with the university over wages, benefits, and working conditions. Negotiations will likely focus on securing the funding necessary to provide quality public services to the university community.

The event was kicked off with a reception and music followed by a four hour program intended to solidify bargaining and field campaign strategies.

Local 925 President Kim Cook led an in depth discussion on providing quality public services; what does that mean and how do we go about doing that.

State representatives Maralyn Chase (D 32nd Legislative District) and Zack Hudgins (D 11th Legislative District spoke to the crowd on the importance of political activism in securing a good contract.
