SEIU 925 Endorsements: 2026

SEIU 925 is proud to announce our pre-primary endorsements in 2026.

To earn SEIU 925’s endorsement, candidates must complete a questionnaire and sit for an interview with members from their district. Candidates must commit to joining a picket line if called upon, and take questions on issues ranging from Washington’s upside-down tax system, K-12 education issues, the ongoing child care crisis in our state, housing affordability, racial justice, and more.

“Washington is going to elect judges who make important decisions about working families’ lives, so it’s vital they understand our members’ issues. That’s why I participate in endorsement interviews.” ~ Austin Field, King County public defender (Seattle, WA)

“Union members need candidates that understand our issues and will fight to make our lives better, whether it be in Olympia or at City Hall. “ ~Ayan Mohamed, child care provider (Kent, WA)

Rebecca Saldaña for King County Council Position 2 – https://www.rebeccasaldana.com/

As a former union organizer, Saldaña understands the importance of unions for better wages, safer workplaces, and dignity on the job.

In the State Senate, Saldaña has delivered real results. As Chair of the Senate Labor Committee, she has passed landmark legislation to raise standards for workers and expand opportunity, including the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, stronger wage theft enforcement, unemployment insurance for striking workers, and one of the most progressive Paid Family & Medical Leave programs in the country. She has also led efforts to rebalance our upside-down tax code—helping pass the Capital Gains Tax and advancing the Millionaires Tax so the wealthiest pay their fair share. Saldaña also helped to pass our bill for the child care standards board this session! SEIU 925 is proud to endorse Rebecca Saldaña for King County Council!

Jaime Hawk for WA State Supreme Court, Position 3 – https://www.judgehawk.com/

Judge Hawk currently serves on the King County Superior Court, but has served youth as a public defender in central Washington, defended individuals against the full power of the federal government as a federal defender in eastern Washington, and lead statewide advocacy efforts as an attorney for the ACLU of Washington. SEIU 925 members are eager for Hawk to bring her career of protecting constitutional rights, civil liberties, and equal justice to the WA Supreme Court!

Jamie Pedersen for State Senate, 43rd Legislative District (Capitol Hill, South Lake Union, Belltown) – https://www.peopleforpedersen.org/

The son of two teachers, Pedersen led the fight to pass Washington’s Millionaires Tax that applies to household incomes above $1 million per year to support public schools, health care, human services, and higher education, and make the tax code fairer.  An activist and advocate for marriage equality and LGBTQ+ civil rights before joining the legislature, he led the successful six-year effort to win marriage equality in the legislature, making Washington State one of the first states in the nation to have full marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Pedersen is the Senate Democratic Majority Leader, and during the second Trump administration, he has worked to protect abortion rights and women’s healthcare with historic investments in Planned Parenthood across the state so everyone could get the healthcare access they need, protected sensitive voter information, banned ICE agents and law enforcement from hiding their identities behind masks, stopped the use of cameras for surveillance and immigration enforcement, and  banned local law enforcement from sharing data from FLOCK cameras with ICE officials and the Trump Administration, one of the first states to do so. We are excited to support his campaign for re-election!

Natalie Bornfleth for State Representative, Position 1, 26th Legislative District (Port Orchard, Bremerton, Gig Harbor) – https://www.electnataliebornfleth.com/

Bornfleth is a veteran who served six years on active duty in the Air Force as a Logistics Officer. After her military service, she worked as a Nuclear Test Pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where she was a member of Bremerton Metal Trades Council. In the years since, she earned her master’s degree in education and now serves as a public school teacher in the South Kitsap School District. She has been a union member for 11 years, building a career centered on service, education, and advocacy for working families. In Olympia she wants to make sure public education is fully funded, lower the cost of living for working families, and protect our environment. SEIU 925 proudly endorses her campaign!

Renee Hernandez Greenfield for State Representative, Position 2, 26th Legislative District (Port Orchard, Bremerton, Gig Harbor) – https://www.reneeforhouse.com/

As a proud AFT union member, Renee Hernandez Greenfield’s career began in early childhood education, where she earned a Certificate of Proficiency and a Certificate of Recognition in Program Administration from Olympic College in 2011. Greenfield has worked in various roles focused on supporting children and families. If elected, she will fight for climate resiliency, lowering costs for working families, and improving early childhood education and support. SEIU 925 is excited to support a fellow union member who will bring our values to Olympia!

Chelsea Dimas for State Representative Position 1, 14th Legislative District (Klickitat, West Valley, Pasco) – https://www.chelseaforwa.com/

Dimas is the founder of community-led RAÍCES, and has continually worked in the 14th LD to further the rights of farmworkers, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community. In Olympia, she plans to focus on our regressive tax code, childcare, and affordable housing. SEIU 925 is excited to see her run and proud to endorse her campaign!

Ezequiel Morfin for State Representative Position 2, 14th Legislative District (Klickitat, West Valley, Pasco) – https://www.electmorfin.com/

Morfin was heavily involved with the United Farm Workers, helping organize members, representing workers before state agencies, and traveling repeatedly to Olympia to advocate for farmworker protections. He saw firsthand how unsafe conditions, wage theft, and fear of retaliation affect families across the region—and how often those voices are ignored. He has been outspoken in defending immigrant families and believes the state has a responsibility to protect communities when federal policies fail. SEIU 925 is excited to support him and endorse his campaign!

Deken Letinich for State Representative Position 2, 18th Legislative District (Vancouver, Ridgefield, Battleground) – https://www.electdeken.com/

Letinich is a champion for Southwest Washington’s working families, with deep roots in the community spanning three generations in Clark County. He has fought on behalf of Southwest Washington workers, finding his calling as a dedicated union advocate. As State Representative, he will prioritize making Southwest Washington more affordable for workers and working families.

Ian Birk for WA State Supreme Court Position 4 – https://ianbirk.com/

Judge Birk serves on Division I of the Washington State Court of Appeals, where he focused on representing individuals, families, and small businesses—often against powerful corporate interests—in cases involving insurance claims, consumer protection, workplace discrimination, and complex civil litigation. For more than a decade, he volunteered with the King County Bar Association Neighborhood Legal Clinics, providing free legal assistance to people who could not afford an attorney. Many of those cases involved renters, consumers, and working families facing immediate financial or housing insecurity. SEIU 925 members are excited to see him run and proud to endorse his campaign!
