UW Advising Staff win over $1 million in stolen wages

Today, the Public Employee Relations Commission found that the University of Washington committed an Unfair Labor Practice when it withheld scheduled pay increases from eligible advising staff . UW had been withholding scheduled raises only from employees who were trying to unionize. Advising staff have since voted overwhelming to form a union.

The decision by PERC orders UW to apply the scheduled 3% merit pay increase to all affected employees, retroactive to September 1, 2024. SEIU 925 estimates this to be close to $1.1 million in wages that UW should have paid to advising staff since September.
