After almost 14 hours of negotiations, the SEIU 925 UW Libraries and Press bargaining team reached a tentative agreement on a union contract. On Tuesday, the chapter voted by 94.2% to go on a one-day strike if they did not reach a deal. Members were preparing to hold the strike on May 14. Union members across all University of Washington campuses help make the university the exemplary institution of higher learning that it is. They know their worth and know the power of standing together to demand respect.
Getting to a tentative agreement took 18 bargaining sessions, three months of working past the contract, a petition delivery march, community rallies, a half-day walkout, and a strike vote. Union members stood strong together to show that they deserve a fair contract.
The bargaining team recommends ratifying the tentative agreement and is holding member meetings to answer questions. Voting will take place May 13-14.
